Toowoomba VVMC Poker Run -26th July 2007
Six bikes met for the ride up to the Farmers Arms Hotel at Cabarla , unfortunately Skids had to drop out due to a small hole in his tire. Paulie brought Chip along on his old 750 four chopper. It was good to see him again.
It was a little chilly on the way up, but nowhere near as cold as the ride back that evening.
Once we arrived, a couple of the vets approached us regarding Easyriders and another club that were expected to arrive.
They thought there was an issue between the two clubs. We assured all that there are no problems and that we had come today hoping to meet up with them. (As it turned out Hazza and I met 4 of them later that evening at another function and had a ball.) A few calls, all was good again as the matter had truly been resolved. Unfortunately the grape vine is a little slow this time of year.
We did bump into a few old mates like Hooch, and Cheffie, as well as Tony and Shelly from the Toowoomba Easyriders.
It is always good to cacth up with old mates.
The route was very good with stops at Crows Nest, Cooyar, Goombungee etc.
All up we reckon there were about 80+ bikes. Not bad for Toowoomba's first Poker Run.
Ike anonunced that the run next year will be called a "memorial run" in memory of those motorcyclist who have ridden on.
I left the group at Cooyar to double back to look for my rego plate that came off between Crows Nest and Cooyar.
(no luck)
The run finished back at the Farmers Arms late in the afternoon. Where the prizes were awarded, raffles drawn etc. Hazza, Dottie, Dave and Deb and myself took off back down the mountain around 5.30pm. Talk about brass monkeys !
Dave Peeled off to head to his home, while Hazza and Dottie followed me back to my place to thaw out and have a bite to eat before heading off again to another function.
The great day was capped off after we met up with our friends ( 4 guys from the other club that we were hoping to meet up at Cabarla.) We had a few drinks, listened to a few yarns and were entertained by a Fire Breathing biker.!
Good time, good friends - thats what it's all about :-)
OZZIE ROAD TRIP

On the 14th of June 2008 at 10am, Joe Cambell, pictured above on right, started his Motorcycle Trek around Australia.
Commencing from the Christian City Church at Oxford Falls in Sydney, his ride is to raise awareness of Youth Suicide here in Australia.
He is travelling clockwise and is currently near Mackay in Northern Queensland where Social Motorcycle Club, EASYRIDERS AUSTRALIA s.m.c are taking care of him.
"Mutley", (left) from the Mackay Chapter of Easyriders, has given Joe a" feed and bed for the night" before riding with Joe part of the way South in the morning.
Other motorcyclists are invited to ride along with Joe during his "downhill" journey back to Sydney.
Those Motorcyclists wishing to ride along with Joe Cambell can join in with the Ipswich Easyriders on Sunday the 20th of July at 9.30am
from the BP service station at Blacksoil (Toowoomba bound). A few of the Easyriders will ride off from the BP to rendezvous with Joe on the road.
All riders are welcome to ride along, meet Joe and show support for this great cause.

Joe Cambell with 9 well wishers. (Sunday 20th July)

It was great to meet up with Joe on the downhill run back to Sydney after travelling some 10,000 km on some of the best and worst roads Australia has to offer. Ipswich Easyriders and friends met with Joe on the Bruce Highway before riding with him to his son and daughter inlaws home for very pleasant afternoon tea. Joe continues his trip on Tuesday the 22nd of July. Those wishing to catch up with him can view his schedule at www.ozzieroadtrip.com .
Have a safe and enjoyable journey home Joe!
Australia Day
JANUARY 26th 2008
Again leaving from Yamanto at 10am, a few of us rode into Southbank for the Flag Raising Ceremony.
It was an 'easy ride' down and was a good opportunity to sus out Hooch's new 1583 cc Street Bob.
What a fantastic bike they are. He had changed from the standard pipes to some nice looking Vance and Hines. Awesome tone, not too loud, but load enough to hear him coming. Overall a great bike.
Once at Southbank we worked our way to the Flag Court area and blended in with the crowd.
It seems they set everything up backwards as the "special guests" tents were set up infront of public audience
blocking the view of the proceedings. Quite odd.
One small interruption to the military ceremony was a small group of protestors. I hope they are aware that the freedom they have to hold such a protest, was fought for by the same people(military) that they were trying
to upset.
Around noon there was a 21 gun salute from the Roma Street parklands about a km away that I didn't hear?
They said something about a lesser charge this time?
But one hilight was with the toddler in front of me, who i am sure was playing a game as he kept dropping his hat and flag for me to pick up, he nearly messed his pants when the F1-11 did a low fly by. Brilliant effect.
We then headed up to the middle of the park when we heard a womans voice say" EASYRIDERS, they must be new" as we walked through the crowd. :-)
Afterwards we had a quick bite to eat and a stroll through the markets before getting back on the bikes and heading to Oxley for debrief coffee.
Again thanks for the good company.

Ipswich Toy Run
6 Easyriders gathered and departed from the Brassall Shopping Centre along with several hundred other motorcyclists. A great place to launch such an event.
The Police, again did a wonderful job in assisting with traffic to ensure a steady flow.
Very similar route to last year but finishing at the Bundamba Turf Club.
The only mishap, as such, was me loosing the 100's of bikes?
I pulled into a servo near one of the gathering points along the way and got into conversation with my friends John and Kate, Next thing we knew everyone had left. We followed John and a few of his boys to the Turf Club where the parade of bikes were already parked. We must have arrived 10 minutes after everone else :-).
Once in we lined up for what seemd to be eternity to buy a cool drink before scrambling to get some shade under the building.
The Lockyer Ulysses auctioned off the donated gifts to the highest bidders with the money going to the Salvation Army and the Arthritis mob.
As always it was a very hot day, but a good day none the less for catching up with mates and supporting a good cause. -Lazza
Rosevale Retreat
Sunday 11 November 2007.
About 22 of us left Yamanto at about 10am and arrived at Moogerah in time for the 1 minute silence at 11am.
From there we then headed towards Mt Edwards an into Boonah for a short break and coffee at Flavours.
Once again we took to the quiet country roads and worked our way to the fabulous "Rosevale Retreat Hotel" for Lunch.
Lovely Place, a lot of work has been done out the back. The new owners have jacked up the prices a bit so be wary.
A little rain on the way home but not enough to spoil the day.
All in all a Great day with Great company.
Our thanks to our guests on the day, Greg, Ado, Amanda and our mother hen Gloria. -Lazza
